Teens spraying graffiti on overpass get busted with weed

TWEED POLICE said they spotted the two teens with flashlights at the M1/Clothiers Creek Road overpass at about 8.45pm on Friday, April 14.

But when spotted by police the two youths made a run for it, splitting up, with one teen running across a paddock.

One of the teens, a 14-year-old from Palmvale, was caught by a police officer following a brief foot chase.

The teen was later found to have in his possession seven cans of spray paint and 18-grams of cannabis.

“The second youth was chased across a paddock and arrested by police. This youth, a 16-year-old male was also from Palmvale,” police said.

“Both youths were charged with intentionally mark property without consent, person under 18 in possession of spray paint can(s) and possessing a prohibited drug.”

They were both bailed to appear before Tweed Heads Children’s Court on May 26.
