A 21-YEAR-OLD man from Cudgera Creek was described as “clearly intoxicated” at Moss Street, Kingscliff at 4.50am on Sunday, April 9, when he decided to drive.

Despite being told and warned not to drive the man was later spotted behind the wheel by Tweed Police and pulled over.

“He was warned not to drive (4.20am) his car which was parked nearby as he was clearly intoxicated. About 4.50am police allegedly saw the man driving the car in Moss Street, Kingscliff,” police said.

The man was stopped for a breath test which not only proved positive but was more than three times the legal limit at 0.166 (0.05).

“The man was arrested and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station. The man underwent a breath analysis which returned a positive reading of 0.166,” police said.

“The man’s license was suspended and he was charged with HRPCA and bailed to appear before the Tweed Heads Local Court May 1.”
