THREE PEOPLE have been rescued from a boat that capsized when attempting to cross the Tweed Bar under powerful swell conditions this morning, Monday, April 17.

Footage from the incident shows three occupants jumping overboard just before the boat overturns and is pounded by large waves.

A yacht attempted to come to the rescue but is also knocked around by the powerful swell and narrowly avoids capsizing.

Marine Rescue NSW Point Danger said the three boaters were wearing life jackets and escaped with no injuries.

Tweed and Gold Coast Life Savers also assisted with the rescue operation.

According to Marine Rescue NSW Point Danger there have been three incidents in total on the Tweed Bar this weekend with another boat capsizing hours later.
