ONE OF the Tweed Shire’s most popular seafood restaurants, Get Hooked Fresh Seafoods, continues to go from strength the strength after the current owner took over the business nearly four years ago.

Mother of three boys, Anne Berta, recently caught up with The Weekly to talk about her passion for the small business that’s quickly become her fourth pride and joy.

The business employs more than 18 staff from the Tweed shire and has grown threefold since Anne took over the business.

Get Hooked Seafoods strives to deliver the best quality seafood to locals and visitors at affordable prices.

“We have fish and seafood from Queensland waters and we even have fresh fish flown in from New Zealand,” Anne said.

“We use only the best seafood and provide top quality service to our valued customers.

“We are in a beautiful location on the Tweed Marina, with indoor and outdoor dining to suit all occasions, and you can even get to us by boat.”

Get Hooked stocks more than 25-plus varieties of fish including fresh Snapper, mixed reef, Flathead, Pacific Plate, Sydney Rock Oysters, Ocean King and Tiger Prawns, Moreton Bay Bugs and great salads made daily.

“We also do great burgers and chips, cooked seafood snacks like crumbed Sea Scallops, Fish Bites, homemade Calamari (which is tender and tasty) and more,” Anne said.

“I can buy cheaper produce, but I just won’t do it.

“We use A-Grade everything and all of our fish is deboned and has the belly flap removed, which means that you only pay for the premium fillet.

“I think this has greatly impacted the success we have experienced. We have something for every budget and every taste.”

Anne said among the most popular orders was the fresh seafood platters which range from $10 to $59.

“They are ready to go, great for entertaining and great value for money,” she said.

“We also now have online ordering and our own phone app, so you can pre-order.

“It saves you on wait times when it’s busy, and it’s really easy to use. You just need to search ‘Get Hooked Seafoods’ on Google Play or I-Tunes.”

Get Hooked also provide gluten free and healthy options, such as grilled fish and calamari and amazing homemade sauce options.

Customers were always looking for a nice place to have lunch on the weekends, and Get Hooked has recently introduced live music every second weekend.

“Being fully licensed makes this a great place to spend an afternoon in the sun, by the clear waters of the Tweed River,” Anne said.

Get Hooked Seafoods is open 364 days of the year (only closed Christmas Day), at 2 River Terrace, Tweed Heads.
