FINAL PREPARATIONS are underway for the return of Destination Tweed’s Artisan Food Weekend, which includes arguably some of the finest food and venues in Australia, right here in the Tweed Shire.
The long weekend kicks off from Thursday, March 11, to Sunday, March 14, with 15 outstanding events across 11 venues (see page 13 for the complete list).
Destination Tweed’s industry development manager Amy Colli caught up with The Weekly for a photoshoot at Johnny Francos Place recently and said tickets were already selling fast with several popular events nearly sold out.
“There’s still plenty of time to secure your place, but now is the time to book,” she said.
“We’re just so excited to be bringing back the Artisan Food Weekend following the COVID-19 shutdown last year.”
It’s the fourth event for The Artisan Food Weekend, with an array of local producers, chefs, farmers and provedores showcasing the flavours from what is fast becoming one of Australia’s best food hubs.
“The extra-long March weekend will reveal the authentic people, place and terroir of this unique destination,” Ms Colli said.
“From the coast to the valley, we capture the Tweed in picturesque locations, from fresh food feasts, to live music soirees, to on-farm experiences.
“The rich Indigenous history of the area will form part of the program to ensure visitors pay homage to the cultural significance of the region.”
Curated and produced by Destination Tweed and proudly supported by Tweed Shire Council and Tweed Tourism Co, the five-day event is a showcase of the thriving Tweed Shire.
“A collection of bespoke events will profile the culinary delights, cultural diversity and collective pride of the producers, chefs and farmers of the Tweed,” Ms Colli said.
“Whether you plan on discovering the natural beauty of the hinterland, cruising along the Tweed River, touring farms and distilleries, or learning more about growing local produce, the Tweed Artisan Food Weekend has something for everyone.”
The Tweed Artisan Food Weekend is a collective community event that connects consumers to producers in the thriving food bowl.
