CONTRACTORS FOR TOMRA are setting up an all new NSW Return & Earn site in South Murwillumbah for eligible bottles and cans on Tweed Valley Way, across the road from the Riverview Hotel.

The site is expected to be open for deposits in the coming days, however a specific date for the facility to open is yet to be officially announced.

TOMRA was investigating possible sites across the Valley after requests from residents and The Weekly due to overcrowding and persistent filling of the two coastal drop points.

Once opened, Tweed will have three drop locations with the first to open at Chinderah BP (Chinderah Bay Drive), the second at Kingscliff Woolworths and the third soon to open in South Murwillumbah.

The new site offers parking at the old Murwillumbah Train Station and current Tweed Valley Information Centre.

Read more in The Weekly on Thursday for the opening date.
