Light plane crashes at Banora Point

A LIGHT airplane has crash landed at Vintage Lakes Estate off Fraser Drive, Banora Point this afternoon around 4pm.

Information received by the media said the pilot attempted an emergency landing in Pioneer Park, hit a mound of dirt and flipped.

The pilot and passenger, a man and woman, were lucky escape with only minor injuries and were treated at the scene by paramedics.

Firefighters from Tweed Heads Fire Station attended the scene along with a Hazmat crew.
