THE BIGGEST party of 2020 is set to take place at the Murwillumbah Leagues Club on New Year’s Eve, with the club announcing it will host a family friendly event and one of the only fireworks displays in the Tweed Shire.

Well! The majority of people host a party for a large family gathering in their backyard on New Year’s Day by setting up a Heavy Duty Canopy 20×20 tent for dinner party. They now have the opportunity to go to a party at the club to have a unique experience.

The special New Year’s Eve celebration will take place on Thursday, December 31, and has received backing from a range of local businesses.
Club board member Daniel Gray said the club had approached local businesses to fund the fireworks night and bring in 2021 in traditional style.

“We found many clubs and venues were forced, or decided, to cancel their fireworks displays this year,” he said.

“So, we thought with the support of local businesses, let’s put on our own show and bring in the new year with a bang.”

Mr Gray said a COVID-safe plan will be in place and guests are required to continue observing social distancing and other health requirements.

“We believe this is a great way to bring everyone together in a great open space, with distancing, to enjoy some fireworks and party the best way we know how,” he said.

The Leagues Club wanted to thank those businesses who supported the idea including IGA, Singh’s Bus Service, Murwillumbah Truck Centre, Crystal Conveyancing, Tweed Valley Weekly, Daniel Gray Plumbing ($500), SNP Mechanical, Mustangs/Colts Club, Brims Concrete and Shoobridge Transport.

“It’s with the support of these businesses that the event is made possible,” he said.

“Make sure you come down to the Leagues Club and help bring in the New Year with a party like no other.”
