THE ITINERARY for an upcoming film production taking place in Murwillumbah has been released this week, with dozens of extras already expressing their interest to help bring the apocalyptic film to life and more are needed.
Known as Occupation, the film is being produced by Gold Coast production company Spark Films who are spending more than seven days filming in Murwillumbah.
The company has secured several key locations with hundreds of extras needed to help make an apocalyptic invasion scene at the Murwillumbah Showgrounds come to life.
Occupation is the film’s title and while the script is under tight wraps, what we do know is a massive ground invasion takes place and the story is told from the perspective of a group of small town folk.
The group band together for survival and the chance to strike back at the mystery invaders.
The Occupation team (pictured) has scouted four locations which are now confirmed in Murwillumbah including the Condong Sugar Mill, the Sugar Beat Café and Restaurant, Taylors Corner Service Station and Murwillumbah Showground.

1. Condong Sugar Mill filming May 17 to May 19
2. Sugar Beat Café and Restaurant May 22
3. Taylors Corner Service Station May 22
4. Murwillumbah Showground on May 23 to May 26 (from 1.30pm each day into the evening)
Producer Carmel Imrie said she wanted to encourage the entire community to get involved especially in the Murwillumbah Showgrounds shoot.
“We need as many extras as possible for the Murwillumbah Showground shoot from 1.30pm into the evening,” she said.
“We are currently taking as many sign up extras as possible (see below).
“We need a lot of extras, especially for the showgrounds shoot, we need it to look packed.”
Ms Imrie said it was important residents are available for the evening filming at the Showgrounds, which is where the apocalyptic scene will take place.
