22-year-old woman punches Tweed Police officer

A 22-YEAR-OLD woman was due to front Tweed Heads Local Court today after she allegedly punched a Tweed Police officer in the face and upper body.

The woman was first spotted by local police at about 11.30pm on Saturday, October 15, after police were called to a Banora Point address in response to an intoxicated female laying on the road.

When Tweed Police arrived the 22-year-old female punched the officer in the face and upper body.

The woman was arrested and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station.

The woman was expected to face charges including assaulting a local police officer. She was refused bail.

The officer was ok and he did not suffer any permanent injury.
