FIRE AUTHORITIES have issued a total fire ban for the Tweed on Saturday, November 5.
The fire ban will last from midnight through until midnight, due to severe Fire Danger Rating (FDR), across the Far North Coast (Ballina, Byron & Tweed LGA’s).
NSW Rural Fire Service, Far North Coast Team said in a social media post that: “this means All FIRE PERMITS are SUSPENDED during this period and there is a prohibition on the lighting of any fires, during this period.
Weather forcasts are predicting temperatures to raise considerably in comparison to previous days with show goers reminded to wear a hat and drink plenty of water.
The fire ban comes after last weekend’s blaze that tore through more than 80 hectares of bushland at Clothiers Creek Road, Bogangar.
