WHAT A year of footy it’s been in 2021. The Weekly’s Footy Tipping Competition was another cracker with plenty of front runners throughout the year.
The Weekly team would like to give a special thank you to all those local businesses who took part in the competition this year, which included a record first place prize of $1,500.
Those tippers who remained hot in the race this year, but who narrowly missed out are worthy of a special mention, including Danny at The Barbers on Main, David Stringer at DJ Stringer, Stuart Brady at Grant & Brady, Scott Polglase at Pottsville Tavern and the Print Spot team, all of whom were within a few points of the top spot.
It is with great pleasure to announce tha Scales Seafood have taken out the top prize this year winning $1,500, with the Riverview Hotel in second place ($500) and equal third going to TOKA Finance and Accountants ($250) and Murwillumbah Services Club ($250).
Scales owners Steve and Mick said they owe much of the tipping decisions this year to Scales team member Tyler, who was the tipping golden boy.
“We’re planning a big fishing trip for the team once we come out of lockdown,” Mick said.
The Weekly would like to encourage businesses to join the tipping competition in 2022, which will again include a first place cash prize of $1,500.
Another special thank you to Damien Quinn for his weekly column.
