THE MURWILLUMBAH Mustangs met a strong Tweed Coast Raiders side at Stan Sercombe Oval on Sunday, May 28.
Both sides looked determined to make their mark in the first half with the Raiders showing why they’ve been among the front runners in this year’s NRRRL scoring first and backing it up with another before the end of the first half.
The Raiders front rowers managed to break down a strong Mustangs side as Murwillumbah managed to fight back in the second half.
But the Raiders rallied and produced an outstanding effort pushing away and claiming victory in a convincing win 22 to Mustangs 12 victory.
Mustangs spectator were evenly matched by their Raiders neighbours and they brought a hardy amount of passion for a strong local side.
It’s not over for the Mustangs by any means this season, with plenty of games to come which mean more action for spectators.
The Mustangs will play Kyogle away on Sunday, June 3. The Raiders will take on Mullumbimby at home, while Cudgen will visit Evans Head.
