TWEED POLICE have released a media statement this afternoon that the dolphin towed through Hastings Point has now been located at Round Mountain Road, Hastings Point.
Police said it was on Monday, August 27, that officers received information that a vehicle was seen driving on Tweed Coast Road Hastings Point towing a dolphin from the tow bar of the vehicle. The vehicle was described as being a dark coloured Ford Maverick.
“Police patrolled the area however were not able to locate the vehicle or dolphin,” police said in the statement.
“On 2 September 2018 Police attended a dirt road off Round Mountain Road Hastings Point after being advised that a deceased dolphin had been found at the location. Police located the dolphin in the bushland.
“It had been secreted in the bushland with a tree branch and shrubs covering it. Council were notified.”
