AN EXCITING new business specialising in unique handmade jewellery and homewares opened its doors in Murwillumbah recently.

Each To Own owners Richard and Kirsten Devitt bring their extraordinary skills and passion for creativity to the Tweed Shire where they settled several years ago and have fallen head over heels for.

The Weekly caught up with Kirsten during the store’s grand opening day on Tuesday, April 3, to find out more about her background and passion for the Tweed Shire.

“My husband Richard and I were so lucky to have been given an opportunity to lead some craft workshops at Splendour in the Grass a few years ago and ended up booking accommodation in Stokers Siding because we were far too old and precious for camping,” she said.

“We arrived there and could not believe how beautiful it was.”

Kirsten said the couple already have an established online business selling laser cut jewellery and homewares.

“But we saw the potential to leave the rat race in Brisbane and come down to the Tweed Shire to live,” she said.

“Fast forward three years and we are fully established in our off-the-grid studio on our beautiful Stokers property and totally in love with the community there and in Murwillumbah.”

Kirsten said Each To Own offers “loads of colour, fun and sparkle!”

“We handmake our own jewellery and homeware brands, Each To Own and Keep-Oh, out of bright and colourful laser cut acrylic but we have also surrounded ourselves with great crafty friends,” she said.

“We have been so lucky to have met great makers at design markets across Australia over the years.

“Our friend’s pieces are in the shop with us – it’s pretty wonderful to be able to showcase the best in design from near and far.”

Kirsten said Each To Own is also hoping to add workshops to their roster of fun things in the next few months.

“We are handmade in the Tweed, of course and we have online customers in every corner of the globe, but we now have a permanent happy home in Murwillumbah,” she said.
Kirsten hopes to create a space for everyone to drop by enjoy the shop and make someone happy with a handmade gift.

“We want to become a great place for you to drop in, grab a gift and card, enjoy the shop and make someone else happy with a unique and handcrafted pressie,” she said.
“Our motto is “Live Local, Love Local, Shop Local”…local is where we want to be in the future.”
