HAPPY NEW Year and welcome to the first edition of ‘Shooting Hoops’ for 2017. We have an action packed agenda for this year, something for all ages.

AUSSIE HOOPS (5-10 years)

Registration is now open!! Aussie Hoops 8 week program is the perfect introduction to basketball for our youngest champions.

From basic ball skills, to modified games, everyone has a great time. Coach Aaron is back as well, and is looking forward to another year of fun.

All new registered Hoopers receive a drawstring bag, reversible singlet and a quality size 5 Spalding Basketball. The program is now on MONDAY’s, commencing at 4pm on 13 February.

To register, go to our Facebook page “Murwillumbah Basketball Association” and follow the links, or via the Aussie Hoops portal www.aussiehoops.com.au Maximum number is 20.

We have maintained the fees as per last year, $90 for new members and $65 for those returning.

MEN’S LEAGUE

After a 4 year absence, Men’s basketball returned in 2016 and was highly successful. The Grand Final between Tropics and GIO Oddballs was a magnificent game, watched by over 100 spectators with Tropics nudging Oddballs by 1 point with just .58 of a second remaining!

The 2017 League will commence next Tuesday, 07 February, with a week of trial games. Team nominations are open, make sure you don’t miss out, nominate now via our Facebook page, or call myself on 0448 883845. New players are more than welcome. Trials commence at 630pm at the home of MBA, SDA Church Hall, Racecourse Road, Tygalgah (near the Racecourse.)

WOMEN’S LEAGUE

Summer League resumes on Monday. At 6.30pm, KLAS Hornets take on Bandits, at 720pm Young Guns play Purple and at 8.10 pm Steelers are up against Blazers. It’s not too late for new players to come and join. For those interested, please call Kelley on 0408 582780.

YOUTH LEAGUE (11-16 years)

This group, who join us every Wednesday from 4pm, was one of the highlights of MBA. From a very timid group of 7, they have expanded to a regular 20 each week. Coach Aaron has taken the time to teach them the basics of basketball and it shows in their weekly games.

In 2017, we hope to be able to deliver a fully operational competition. Our first session will be Wednesday 15 February at 4pm. If you have children interested, no matter what skill level, bring them along. Everyone learns and are not thrown onto the court without coaching and taught the basics. We will commence with a few weeks of basic coaching, and some advanced for those returning from 2017. Cost is $6 per week. Once we have the numbers for 4 teams (7 per team) we will be running a competition. New singlets will be supplied. For details, contact myself on 0448 883 845

NEW LOGO

Late last year we launched the new logo for MBA. We are in the process of having Tee Shirts and Polo shirts made. Here is our logo, we love it and hope you do too!
