Narrow loss for Mustangs at home

WHAT STARTED as a close game would end as a close game for the Murwillumbah Mustang who took on the Evans Head Bombers at the Stan Sercombe Oval on Sunday, May 14.

Unfortunately for the Mustangs, it was Evans Head who narrowly took the win on the day, despite the best efforts of a strong defensive side in the Mustangs.

The Bombers were not short of tough front rowers who managed to match the strength of the Mustangs in the first half and kept the pace throughout.

The Mustangs were first to score and convert in the first ten minutes as the rain belted down and added to an already slippery field that kept the players and spectators guessing.

Evans Head supporters were outnumbered by Mustangs supporters at their home ground, but this did little to curb their enthusiasm for a strong side with strong support.

It was also close game for the Tweed Coast Raiders who lost 12 to 14 in a top of the table clash against the Ballina Seagulls who have moved to the top of the table.

The Mustangs will travel to Lismore next Sunday, March 20 to take on Marist Brothers who are sitting in sixth place.

Both Tweed Coast teams have home games this weekend with the Raiders playing Casino and Cudgen hoping for a win against Lower Clarence who are yet to register a win.
