THE FINAL touches are being added to the all-new Murwillumbah Cycles retail and service centre inside the Murwillumbah Railway Station site in South Murwillumbah.
Murwillumbah Cycles recently made the move from the CBD to the new location, which offers more space and a lot more parking for customers.
Owners Rachel and Jeff Harris said they are “extremely pleased” with the new site.
“It’s been an awesome move for the team and for the future of cycling in the Tweed Valley,” Rachel said.
“The space is amazing for us and our customers, and we are excited to be at the start of the Northern Rivers Rail Trail.”
Construction on the first stage of the rail trail, from Murwillumbah to Crabbes Creek, is expected to start in a few weeks and will be completed in late 2022.
Murwillumbah Cycles is getting ready for a surge in demand for bikes, including rental bikes, by increasing their rental range to include even more electric bikes.
“We are constantly expanding our range and to meet our customers’ expectations, and we are also looking to expand our range specifically for women’s road and mountain biking gear and apparel” Rachel said.
“We are also working hard to meet the needs of the Tweed Valley Triathletes community and Murwillumbah Cycle Club, which is an important part of the local cycle community.”
An avid cyclist, Jeff is the recently appointed vice president of Murwillumbah Cycle Club and had started Cabarita Beach Cycles in 2007.
“So, the closure of another bike shop in June 2019 in Murwillumbah opened the door for a new bike shop and thanks to the local support, it’s been going great,” they said.
“It was unthinkable to not have a bike shop in this historical town. So, when we heard the bike shop was closing, we felt we had to come.
“We can also now test the bikes on the platform, which is a great way for customers to get a feel for the bikes.
“We also have two major bike brands ‘Specialized’ and ‘Trek’ to choose from and other major brands in our accessories range such as Maxxis, Fox and Camelbak.”
The new store also offers coffee while customers browse the extensive range.
