THE MURWILLUMBAH Business Chamber, in conjunction with local businesses, is encouraging Tweed Shire businesses to join the Christmas trading campaign and embrace extended trading hours.
The aim, according to Murwillumbah Business Chamber President Nick Moran, is to create a bustling and fun trading experience for the public while stimulating retail trade.
“In addition to the retail sector, it would be beneficial to have food shops trading,” he said.
“The Chamber will do its best to encourage shoppers to buy local.
“We already have 20 Main Street businesses signed up to trade the following minimum hours in December.”
Saturday, December 21, to 4pm
Sunday, December 22, to 1pm
Anderson’s Treasure Store owner Peter Anderson said he’s been canvassing for other businesses to embrace the longer trading hours.
“It’s a great way to get locals to shop locally and we can capture some of that last-minute trading,” he said.
“I’d encourage business owners and operators to get behind the idea.”
Please send confirmation you can trade the above hours or if you would like further information please contact Nick via email nickm@mmaacc.com
