TWEED’S EMERGENCY services have responded to two rescues at Mount Warning this weekend after a car left Mount Warning Road and was found 15-metres down an embankment and a teenager fell near the summit of Wollumbin Mt Warning.
Tweed District Rescue Squad (TDRS) crews and paramedics responded to the single vehicle accident on Sunday, July 15, at 1.50am, and made their way down the embankment where they found a man trapped in a small red sedan.
Paramedics stabilised the man before he was freed from the vehicle and hauled out via a rope retrieval system.
A waiting ambulance transported the man by road to hospital.
On Saturday, July 14, Tweed District Rescue Squad was called to a stricken walker on Wollumbin (Mt Warning) with reports the injured 17-year-old required helicopter assistance near the summit.

Police said the teen fell near the summit and injured his leg.

“TDRS crews were joined by members from Murwillumbah SES, Ambulance Paramedics and Police at the staging area located at the start of the summit track,” TDRS said.

“Westpac Lifesaver 3 Helicopter was also tasked to respond, and were able to winch a medical team onto the mountain to assess and stabilise the patient.

“Fortunately for ground crews with favourable conditions the helicopter was able to conduct winching operations and transport the patient with a lower leg injury to hospital.”
