TWEED POLICE are investigating the circumstances that led to the death of a man in a go-kart on Scenic Drive at Bilambil Heights at 6.10am this morning.

The 34-year-old man was believed to have left the road up a drive way before crashing and police had established a crime scene in the area to determine the cause of the death.

Police said the man may have been driving the go-kart, which is an unregistered vehicle, on the roads around Bilambil Heights when he crashed during the night (Sunday, August 27) and was found this morning.

The identity of the man was yet to be revealed and police are calling for any witnesses who may have seen the go-kart to contact the Tweed Police Station on (07) 5506 9499.

Police were unavailable for comment at the time and they are preparing a report for the Coroner.

Motorists are advised to avoid Scenic Drive at the top of Bilambil Hill and instead use Simpson Drive.
