FIRST NATIONAL Murwillumbah has provided a significant boost to Meals on Wheels Murwillumbah this week in the form of much-needed funding.

A cheque for $9,600 was presented to the Meals on Wheels team following six months of sales by the First National Murwillumbah.

First National Murwillumbah Principals Sarah and Scott Reading said they select a different community charity every six month to donate the funds to.

“We keep $200 from every property sale to give to a local charity,” Mr Reading said.

“We selected Meals on Wheels Murwillumbah this time around as we know this is a great community service that does not receive much government support.”

Meals on Wheels Murwillumbah President Wayne Tagget heaped praise on the First National Murwillumbah team.

“This is a fantastic donation to this vital community service,” he said.

“I’d like to extend our deepest gratitude to the First National team.”

Mr Tagget said the funds will go towards providing meals and the running of the community meals service.

“We need around $20,000 every year,” he said.

“And this donation goes a long way in supporting this vital service.”
