Hi all, welcome to local sounds. This week is all about entering the Dolphin Music Awards.
Some of you may not be aware that 2016 will mark 25 years since the first North Coast Entertainment Industry (NCEIA), Dolphin Music Awards. There are up to 60 judges on the panel and I have been involved with NCEIA as a judge since 2014. It’s such a great pleasure and privilege for Tweed Creative Studios to take part in this organisation that celebrates and acknowledges local musicians and their music. Some people would see this as a competition but that’s not what it’s about. It’s about rejoicing and recognising musicians who have been writing music, recording and performing on the Far North Coast.
The North Coast Entertainment Industry Association was formed in 1991 by a number of enthusiastic musicians with the goal of promoting and celebrating the region’s rich music and performing arts industry. The Northern Rivers and Tweed Shire boasts a wealth of musical talent, skills, expertise and academic knowledge. The industry encompasses a multitude of people involved in a range of genres.
Most of us know how hard it is to get our music out there to the public. So you’ve just recorded your new EP. Why not enter your songs, it’s easy to do and you will have until the 7th of October 2016 to submit any entries. This is an excellent opportunity for artists from Bellingen through to the lower Tweed area to showcase their music in front of the music industry luminaries of the region. The Awards night footage will also be streamed live worldwide and played on radio.
NCEIA aims to create performance opportunities for members, bring together and strengthen our region’s music community, encourage developing musicians in this region and to acknowledge this areas talented musicians at a major event.
The NCEIA Dolphin Music Awards will be held on the 6th of December 2016 at the Ballina RSL Club. The rules are; that you live in the (02)66 telephone area code, your music is original and you are not signed to a label.
Go to http://nceia.org.au/ to register your songs and a chance to win some fantastic prizes. Good luck, may the musical force be with you.
