The Rural Fire Service has worked into the night to bring the bush fire at Bogangar under control.
The fire spread over 82 hectares of bushland. Locals who called emergency services reported they believed the bushfire was started by a cigarette butt thrown out of a window.
Clothiers Creek Road remained closed to traffic this morning.
9.30pm
A LARGE bushfire is burning out of control at Clothiers Creek Road, Bogangar.
The Rural Fire Service is attending, however, it is reported the fire is too large to control and the focus is to protect nearby homes.
The fire covers a distance of 22 hectares of bushland south of Clothiers Creek Road just after Tanglewood.
Clothiers Creek Road remains closed to traffic at the time of report (9.10pm) and it’s likely the fire will burn through the night.
Earlier in the day fire crews attended another small fire at Tweed Coast Road, Casuarina just north of the Casuarina Village Shopping Centre.
