MURWILLUMBAH GOLF Club will host a special fundraising golf day on Sunday, October 9, to help professional golfer Sheridan Gorton realise her life-long dreams.
Ms Gorton was named the first Murwillumbah Golf Club female professional golfer this year.
The rising golf star, who was born and raised in Murwillumbah, now has her sights set on travelling to Morocco in October to try and gain her ticket on the European Tour and eventually give her access to the American Pro Circuit.
But it’s a costly venture and despite working her heart out on the course and picking fruit most mornings, Ms Gorton needs some local help.
Event organiser Libby Varela said the Murwillumbah Gold Club is 100 per cent behind Ms Gorton and her quest for golfing glory.
“That’s why the club is staging this day to help her with finances and to give her the best possible opportunity to realise her dream,” Mrs Varela said.
“You do not have to be a golfer to play, the competition is a four person Ambrose – so why not enter a team of four at $100 per team.
“There is also a mountain of prizes to be won on the day and we also have wonderful items available on eBay, of which you can email a bid. They include a signed surfboard by all of the Gold Coast Surfing Champions such as Steph Gilmore, Mick Fanning and more.
“Other items up for auction include a signed menu from the presentation night of the 1964 St George Dragons as well as framed jerseys from Cronulla, South Sydney, Tigers and the Titans – plus lots more items.”
The Golf Day will include a sausage sizzle and meals available at the club restaurant.
The event has two tee off times with a shotgun start at 7.30am and 12.30pm. To book or enquire please call the Golf Shop on (02) 6672 1799.
