POTTSVILLE RESIDENT Rod Irving has recently unveiled a new and exciting local business at Cabarita called Cabarita Beach Barber Shop at 33 Tweed Coast Road (Ace Plaza), which he says fills a gap in the market and is taking him back to his roots.
Rod has lived in Pottsville for the past six years and has more than 20 years’ experience as a barber.
Having previously owned two barber shops during his earlier career, Rod said he has returned to his passion for styling hair and running a small business.
The barber shop will also be hosting a special grand opening on Saturday, January 27, with live music and a free sausage sizzle (see page 13).
“We would love for locals and visitors to Cabarita and across the Tweed Shire to come down and say hello, enjoy a free sausage sizzle and get your hair cut,” he said.
Rod said he had seen a gap in the market when he decided to open with a beachside theme.
“I strongly believe there is a need for a barber shop in the area,” he said.
“And I will provide a full service of barbering catering for the young and older generations.”
The family man said he was also committed to supporting locals by using local tradesman, advertising in the local newspaper and employing local people. With the number of people invested in Mens Grooming services, hopefully, he might be able to put his plans into action.
“I am a very committed family man with my wife and three children and a very community minded person in supporting locals,” he said.
“Hopefully with your support the business can grow and create employment opportunities as well.”
As the Cabarita Beach Barber Shop is by the beach, Rod has used surfboards as his workbenches with a surf shack-style theme.
“It’s a great space that has a relaxed surfy beach feel,” he said.
“So come and visit me at the barbershop check it out and get your haircut.”
