IT’S BEEN a hectic weekend for Tweed Heads Firefighters who’ve handled a structural fire, a narrow escape for a reversing driver and a car into the Tweed River.
A Banora Point resident avoided serious injury after accidentally backing their car onto an overhang this afternoon, Sunday January 29.
Tweed Heads Firefighters used airbags to raise the rear of the car to enable it to be winched out by tow truck drivers.
Fortunately no one was seriously injured and the vehicle will need some body repair.
On Friday, January 27, Tweed Heads Firefighters attended a wide range of calls including a vehicle into the Tweed River at Fingal (pictured above).
Firefighters also attended a hazardous materials incident with a diesel spill into Jack Evans Boat Harbor, a car accident with person reported trapped, an explosion resulting in a structural fire and numerous fire alarms.
Luckily no one was seriously injured in any of these incidents.
