THE FINAL casting call for the Murwillumbah film shoot will take place today at the Murwillumbah Showgrounds (Wednesday, May 24)  with more than 200 extras needed for the invasion scenes.

The Murwillumbah Showgrounds has looked more like a Hollywood film set this week, after Gold Coast film production company Sparke Films selected Murwillumbah as the set for a new apocalyptic science fiction film titled Occupation.

The key time is 4pm onward this afternoon with the invasion scenes set for filming and hundreds of locals and visitors urged to drop in.

Extras are asked to find parking outside the showgrounds and make themselves known to staff at the main entrance gate.

Actors will also be on hand to chat with extras with the final day an open day as the production begins to wrap up.

The production team also wanted to extend a big “thank you” to the Tweed Shire community for taking park and support the production. A big thank you was also extended to the Tweed Coast Tigers AFL team, Taylor’s Corner staff and customers, as well as the Murwillumbah Showground committee.
