CAR DEALERSHIPS across the Tweed Shire are adjusting their business models to allow for contactless car purchasing and servicing including Cricks Tweed, which has pulled the end of financial year sales ahead to offer some great local deals.

Cricks Tweed is locally owned, with Dealer Principal Ryan Harding a part-owner and responsible for the day-to-day operations.

Mr Harding said the closure of the Queensland border has locked out at least 40 per cent of customers and has put staff jobs and livelihoods in danger.

“However, we have not made a single redundancy or let go of any staff and we are choosing to keep everyone attached to the business whilst working to manage our way through the pandemic,” he said.

“Like many businesses we have reduced our hours and staff roster and made adjustments to our 18 vehicle technicians and service staff, nine sales staff and 13 admin/management staff.”

Mr Harding said car dealerships have been classified as an essential service to ensure all Australians can complete their essential transport needs safely and reliably.

“Cricks Tweed has pivoted like many businesses and is now offering Contactless Car Buying and Servicing,” he said.

Mr Harding said Cricks Tweed was seeing an increase in vehicle maintenance, servicing and warranty repairs as customers take advantage of the spare time.

While sales of new and used cars have plummeted, Mr Harding said there are now some great deals on offer as the dealership clears stock.

“Customers could expect a great deal with end of financial year specials being pulled ahead, and a simpler and quicker transaction process, either in person or over the phone,” he said.

“Cricks Tweed has implemented various contact-less processes to ensure customers can get what they need done, without breaching any rules or endangering their health.”

Mr Harding said his team felt fortunate to represent two extremely strong brands such as Subaru and Mitsubishi.

“Both have been very supportive through the challenges created by the border closure and pandemic,” he said.

“Recent new model introductions include the Subaru Forester Hybrid, Subaru XV Hybrid, the all new Mitsubishi ASX, the all new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, and a range of new special edition Mitsubishi Triton utes.”

Mr Harding said you can now buy your next car in the comfort of your own home.

“Speak to our team via phone, email or online,” he said.

“We will help you pick the perfect car. With contactless test drives, we can bring the car to you or pop in if you prefer.

“These measures have been adopted to keep our business running, while ensuring the safety of our staff and customers in these challenging times.”

Cricks Tweed’s Service and Sales departments are open Monday to Saturday, or by appointment.
