TWEED VALLEY Weekly would like to correct and apologise for a story on Page 3 of this week’s (August 30) edition under the title “B-double application knocked back”.
The story stated that Hardings quarry at 144 Smiths Creek Road had applied to operate B-double trucks, when in fact it was not Hardings who applied but instead a separate trucking company.
While the information came from the agenda item and minutes of Tweed Shire Council’s August 16 meeting, a Tweed Shire Council spokesperson said the application came from an unknown trucking company and not Hardings.
Hardings would also like to clarify that accidents that have taken place on Kyogle Road quoted from councillors were “not involving trucks” and were unrelated to quarry operations.
It should also be clarified that the truck applied for is not known as a B-double but instead is a 20-metre Performance Based Standard (PBS) three axle truck and four axle dog trailer.
The Weekly will also run a correction for this story in the next week’s edition.
The Weekly editor would like to apologise to Hardings for this mistake.
