WHEN DENTIST and owner of Casuarina Dental, Maria Florou, moved to Australia in 2011, she had a vision to bring her knowledge and experience in holistic dentistry with her.
Dr Florou did not start out as a holistic dentist, but her early experiences in traditional dentistry left her wanting to find a better way to treat patients with more of a focus on the whole person.
Dr Florou started searching for the latest advancements, least invasive procedures and most natural resources available.
“Being a holistic practitioner really resonates with me as I am passionate about caring for people,” she said.
“I have immense gratitude for my life being led to where I am now in this beautiful part of the world.
“I was drawn to this area because I liked the sense of community.
“We are a family orientated practice and I felt that my holistic approach to dentistry would really benefit the community.”
Casuarina Dental is a local practice that understands the mouth is not separate from the rest of the body.
In fact, the mouth is a gateway through which every organ is nourished and sustained.
It is not surprising then that problems with your teeth and gums, as well as, bacteria, toxins and chemicals, present in the mouth, have the potential to affect other parts of the body and vice versa.
“We are a mercury-free practice and we follow strict protocols for amalgam removals in order to take care of you and our environment.” Dr Florou said.
“On top of that, we choose to use biocompatible materials, which means that you get the best possible treatment for your overall health and wellbeing.
“We provide our patients with the relevant information about their condition and treatment options, through clear communication so they can make educated decisions about their health today and in the future.”
