The weekend of the 5th and 6th of November will see the return of the richest surf contest on the Far North Coast, “Caba’s Big Bang”.
Hosted by Cabarita Boardriders and presented by Caba Boardriders aerial superman, Chris “Chippa” Wilson, they are asking competitors to “Show up and Blow Up!”, but do not just show up on the day as the entries are limited and filling fast. No wonder with $8,000 in cash plus thousands more in prizes up for grabs.
With only 16 spots in the Women’s Divisions, 24 in the Junior Men, and 32 in the Opens it is a first in first served basis, with $10,000 in cash and thousands in prizes up for grabs including new surfboards by local shaper Matt Hurworth.
Matt shapes the boards ridden by the man presenting the event, Chris “Chippa” Wilson, who when he surfs at Caba they have to notify the Coolangatta airport with Chippa flying that high off the waves, he can interrupt the flight paths… haha….
There is Men’s, Juniors, and Women’s divisions, and up for grabs $5,000 for the men, $2,000 for the juniors, and $1,000 for the women, plus Matt Hurworth surfboards, surf gear, and plenty of other prizes. Also there is a big prize for the best air of the weekend. Last year was massive so mark the 5th and 6th of November in your diary and come check it out.
Get your entries in quickly, the Junior Men’s is close to filling up and the Men’s and Women’s entries are filling fast.
