TWEED FIREFIGHTERS were called to several grass and bush fires in Tweed Heads South and Banora Point over the weekend.
Firefighters from both Tweed Heads and Banora Point fire stations attended and were able to extinguish the fires.
One of the fires (pictured) was adjacent to the M1 and Police were required at the scene due to the smoke hazard for motorists.
There has been a spate of grass and bush fires in these suburbs over the last couple of weeks.
The public is being urged to phone police if they see any suspicious behaviour or to report to Firefighters on scene.
