TWEED POLICE have charged a 32-year-old French tourist with drink driving after he was pulled over on Numinbah Road, Crystal Creek, on Saturday, May 13.
Police said they stopped the man’s Ford utility for the purpose of a random breath test at about 9pm.
“The male driver returned a positive roadside breath test and was placed under arrest for the purpose of a breath analysis,” the police statement said.
“He was conveyed to the Murwillumbah Police Station where a subsequent breath analysis returned a reading of 0.128” or more than twice the legal limit.
The man was issued a licence suspension notice and will appear in the Murwillumbah Local Court on May 23.
Police said he was charged with “Middle Range Prescribed Concentration of Alcohol”.
