MOUNT WARNING Tours is evolving with a range of big announcements including a name change to Tweed Escapes, a new private tour and transfer vehicle fleet and other acquisitions, all to continue driving one of the Tweed Shire’s best tourism operations.

The business has more big news on the horizon with the purchase of the Tumbulgum General Store and Post Office and adjoining cafe, which will continue as is, as well as purchasing neighbouring lots within the commercial village precinct, in the future.

Director Michael Simmons said the company has a collective vision for Tumbulgum that will focus on restoring the heritage facade of the commercial precinct buildings.

β€œOur goal is to collectively meet the aspirations of the community by providing and extending existing services for the village, and developing these offerings into local and visitor retail and experiences,” he said.

Over the past six years, Mount Warning Tours has worked in collaboration with multiple Tweed hinterland operators to improve the Tweed’s tourism offering by delivering a range of cruises and road tours that have focused on nature, history, local food and farm experiences, adventure activities and much more.

β€œIt has been great to have so many happy customers touring with us,” Mr Simmons said.

β€œNow, we are expanding what we offer and with that, evolving into Tweed Escapes.

β€œThis is a brand that will still feature the cruises and tours you love, as well as offer more experiences to enrich your time on the Tweed.

β€œTweed Escapes is all about day-cations, stay-cations, local travel packages and multi-day experiences with us and our collaborative partners.”

Mr Simmons said as the business has grown, the products have developed β€œwell beyond our original vision, and beyond our original name”.

β€œWe also felt like using the name Mount Warning was not in alignment with the traditional owners of the land, and as a sign of respect to our local Indigenous communities, have chosen to remove that name from our business,” he said.

β€œAs we have partnered with figures from our local Aboriginal community, this now allows us to tell even more of the story of the land and culture of the region.

β€œWe have always been big on sharing the stories of the region and now this is one of the founding principles behind the experiences we will be bringing you.”

Mr Simmons has also partnered with long time Tweed Shire tourism expert and entrepreneur Russell Moore, who is working in partnership with Tweed Escapes as a fellow director.

β€œThrough storytelling, we will take you on a journey in nature and the history of the region, as well as the best places on the Tweed for great food, great drinks and great times with friends and family, creating memories that will last,” he said.
