TWEED POLICE are investigating how a late model Bentley Continental, valued at an estimated $300,000 to $400,000, came to be in the river at West Tweed this morning (Monday, May 28).
Tweed Heads Firefighters on 468 Alpha were called to assist police to retrieve the car from the river at West Tweed.
“On arrival a part of a car was visible at the end of a boat ramp, Tweed Heads Police were in attendance and checked that there was nobody in the car,” the Tweed Heads Firefighters posted.
“A tow truck was called for to retrieve the vehicle and the area was checked for any leaking fuel or oil from the vehicle.”
Firefighters said when the car was towed out of the water it was “not just any old car” but a late model Bentley Continental.
Tweed Police are investigating the circumstances as to how the car ended up in the river.
