A 27-YEAR-OLD Banora Point man will appear before Tweed Heads Court tomorrow (July 24) after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend at Banora Point on Friday, July 21.
Police said around 11pm on Friday night he went for a walk with his girlfriend at Woodlands Drive, Banora Point.
“During some point the male has allegedly become aggressive and has assaulted the female by punching her to the face and head a number of times,” Police said in a media statement.
“The female has become unconscious and an ambulance attended as the male left the scene.
“The female was conveyed to the Tweed Heads Hospital where she was treated for swelling, bruising and soft tissue injuries to her face.”
Police managed to find the man several hours later at a Banora Point home where we was arrested following a struggle with police.
“After a struggle with police he was conveyed to the Tweed Heads Police Station where he was placed in one of the docks in the charge room,” police said.
“The male has allegedly commenced to kick the dock door with such force that the Perspex in the door has shattered.”
He was refused bail and charged with Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm, Resisting Police and Malicious Damage. He will appear before Tweed Heads Local Court tomorrow, July 24.
