THE TWEED Valley Weekly team is pleased to announce the launch of your all new Weekly Real Estate from Coast to Country section, printed every week inside.
Building on the strength of the local print format and increasing demand for a strong independent print presence, The Weekly is now working with local real estate agents to provide a strong platform for real estate businesses in the Tweed and Southern Gold Coast.
Editor and owner Jonathon Howard said the move made sense following News Corp’s exit from its print edition in the Tweed Shire.
“The Weekly supplies a print edition that’s jam-packed with local content and local businesses, all in the one place and it’s free, it simply made sense to have a dedicated real estate section,” he said.
“If you are interested in the events and information that shapes the Tweed Shire every week, Tweed Valley Weekly is here for you now and into the future and we are now offering the best in local real estate.
“We also have a website, where you can view the full edition every week free of charge.”
Mr Howard said The Weekly was also answering the call from local real estate agents to increase circulation and boost delivery numbers.
“As of this week (July 2) we have significantly increased the number of bulk drops at all the major shopping centres, including The Strand at Coolangatta, who were crying out for more,” he said.
“We’re also looking for new distribution locations including any businesses that want a free newspaper stand at either Tweed Heads or Banora Point (conditions apply*).
“This enables businesses to become pick up points for The Weekly and will aid in improving our distribution and circulation in Tweed Heads and Banora Point, where readers love The Weekly but are often disappointed when the stands are empty on a Thursday.”
Mr Howard said there would be more announcements in the coming weeks.
“We won’t stop there,” he said.
“We are committed to refining and improving our circulation now and into the future.
“We are now the only free newspaper delivering to regional homes across the Tweed Valley as well as most homes across the Tweed Coast, truly connecting coast to country.”
Mr Howard said the team felt supported by the many locals both young and old who love The Weekly and are eager to see the paper’s real estate section grow.
“We are taking calls and emails every day wishing us the best and most importantly to stay the course,” he said.
“People rely on their print source of media as both an important pillar of democracy and as a trusted source of local information.
“We employ several outstanding journalists in Jo Kennett on the coast and Megan Albany across the arts and general news, who are among the best in the business and are passionate about local news reporting.
“I want to thank the community for its support and while it was sad to see the closure of the Tweed Daily News in print, rest assured we are hear for our local readers and businesses.
“We will pick up the pieces and continue to offer the best local newspaper a community such as ours deserves.”
