ART LOVERS and supporters are being called upon to support The Climate Council’s latest venture Artists for Climate Online, which will take place on Friday, April 17, from 6pm.
Residents are invited to log on and bid for top quality locally made art from Murwillumbah and surrounds, which will contribute to fundraising for the Climate Council.
Event organiser Barry Firth said the auction will be via a video conference using the Zoom website application.
“You would be able to join, using your computer, tablet or smart phone,” he said.
“I’ll be your online host and popular local real estate agent, Michael Spicer, also known at Toastmasters and “Poets Out Loud”, will be the auctioneer.”
A range of artworks will go under the hammer including works by Marion Douglas, Rob Olver, Barbara Suttie and many others.
The Climate Council exists as a crowd-funded organisation whose function is to provide independent and authoritative climate change information to the Australian public.
Mr Firth said video materials featuring the Climate Council will be available to participants before and during the on-line session.
“This includes a recorded 10-minute interview between myself and Professor Will Steffen of the Climate Council,” he said.
“Participants will have this special opportunity to improve their awareness of the Climate Council and its work.
“Artists for Climate is made possible through the generosity of eleven artists who have contributed items for sale at auction and organisational support from Caldera Environment Centre.
“To take part in the auction, please contact me to obtain a catalogue containing information about the works on offer.”
