TWEED COAST Glass is celebrating 25 years of providing glazing services to the Tweed Shire with a commitment to employing locals and supporting local families.

Tweed Coast Glass General Manager Scott McGuren has recently provided The Weekly with an update about the business as well as reflecting on more than two decades of service to the Tweed.

Mr McGuren said the business has a second generation coming through the ranks and intends to continue to employ more locals now and into the future.

“We also hope to continue to provide full-time positions within our business, which in turn supports local families who positively contribute to the local economy,” he said.

“We intend to continue to provide our services to the local community for many years to come.”

Tweed Coast Glass specialise in custom residential and commercial glazing services with no job too big or small, including splashbacks and tabletops.

Mr McGuren said the business has recently expanded its large door suites with the introduction of the ALSPEC Top Hung sliding doors and the European style ALUK suite.

“These newly designed doors have been developed specifically for Australian conditions and offer large doors and panels that can be designed in stacking formation to open a large area for unrestricted views,” he said.

“Electronic automation integration is the area we are interested in expanding too.

“We are continually custom designing new glazing suits in conjunction with architects, builders and owners, we do this work in house and are currently working on an electrically controlled gas strut window capable of opening as required with the touch of a button and potentially capable of being controlled by smart home programs like Google Home etc.”

Tweed Coast Glass currently employ three apprentices and have two apprentices who have recently completed their trade school and practical requirements.

“We encourage apprenticeships with local youths with the intention of training and developing young people to become quality tradesman and contributing members of the community,” Mr McGuren said.

“Since 1995 Tweed Coast Glass have trained more than 15 apprentices, including mature age apprentices.”

Tweed Coast Glass is also committed to supporting the community through sponsorship of local sporting and volunteer organisations.

“We have supported many local sporting associations over the years including the Cudgen Cricket Club, Ocean Shores Golf Club, to name a few,” he said.

“We support Wedgetail Retreat and other not for profit organisations such as Condev Cares and Canteen Australia.”
