TWEED LOCALS Pete Flanagan and hid partner Kel, have just realized their lifelong dream by opening a new nursery in Lundberg Drive, Murwillumbah, known as Green with Envy Nursery.
Pete is a qualified horticulturist with more than 25-years’ experience in nurseries and running his own garden design and maintenance business.
He said he is overwhelmed with the response that the Tweed Valley community has given him and his partner since opening their doors two months ago.
“I’m so thankful for the support shown by the community. It’s been a great two months and I can’t wait for the future,” Pete said.
“I’ve lived in the Tweed Shire for more than 15 years and Kel has been here all her life.
“We love this area. We grow a lot of our own plants here, stocking an extensive array, but it is only the beginning and we look forward to expanding our range of plants, pots, hydronics, art and gifts”.
Pete has a background in commercial hydrponics and is looking forward to promoting and educating the community on the benefits of hydrponic growing.
“Hydroponics basically means that you can grow plants in a controlled environment.
“You can have indoor and outdoor hydro setups and they can be either organic or non-organic.”
Green with Envy Nursery also offer workshops in Bonsai, hydrponics, basket weaving, and arts and crafts.
“The first bonsai class went very well and we are looking forward to sharing our future workshops as well”. Pete said.
“Kel is an amazing Aboriginal artist, with many of her works for sale at the nursery as well, so who knows what will eventuate there.
“We are a family run business that can design your garden from the very start, plant it out for you and then maintain it long term for you as well.”
