AN 18-YEAR-OLD man has suffered serious leg injuries after he was flung from his motorbike on Tweed Coast Road, Cabarita, last night.
Police said the man was riding a white Honda motorcycle in a northerly direction along Tweed Coast Road at an unknown speed, when he turned in front of a silver Nissan Micra sedan that was travelling south.
“The impact has caused the rider to collide heavily with the front nearside of the vehicle resulting in him being ejected from the motorcycle,” police said.
“Upon being ejected the rider’s head and body have collided with a third vehicle, a white coloured Subaru Outback station wagon which was stationary at the intersection of the Tweed Coast Road and Pandanus Parade waiting to turn onto the Tweed Coast Road.”
The rider was treated at the scene for serious lower left leg injuries as well as head and facial injuries, but police said none of the man’s injuries were life threatening.
The driver of the Nissan Micra did not sustain any injuries from the crash.
Police said it “appears drugs and/or alcohol may be factor” and said they are awaiting blood samples”.
