TWO HOMES were destroyed by fire at Gateway Lifestyle Tweed Shores at about 7am this morning (Saturday, March 3).
No was injured in the fire, however one elderly man is undergoing further assessment at hospital but is in a stable condition.
It was not understood how the fire had started, however it was known that the fire started in one of the houses and spread to the second.
The properties were located in the back of the park, and the fire moved quickly but all were able to evacuate.
The Gateway Lifestyle Tweed Shores manager told The Weekly that “fortunately everyone was okay” and looking forward, said insurance would cover the damages.
“It’s come as a shock especially so near to one year since the floods, it’s tough for some of the residents,” he said.
“Fortunately everyone’s okay and the fire was contained.”
The fire is under investigation with more in The Weekly on Thursday.
