TWEED COOLANGATTA Taxi Service has put the call out for new drivers as the business continues to undergo growth and the need to keep people moving increases.
There are now almost 20 positions available for local drivers with strong communication and people skills and of course have a valid NSW driver’s licence.
Tweed Coolangatta Taxi Service general manager Murray Spencer said the business would welcome local pensioners, who are able to earn up to $100 per week without affecting their income.
“There’s a lot of local people who might like the extra money,” he said.
“We provide the taxi and fuel and book the jobs, the role only requires someone with great people skills, a NSW driver’s licence and ABN,” he said.
Murray said the soon to be announced legislation on Uber drivers was also likely to even up the playing field for local businesses.
“At the moment, there’s a few things coming to legislate Uber, which will provide a level playing field for taxi businesses and it’s been a long time coming,” he said.
“We offer full insurance and cover for our drivers and unlike Uber, we offer certainty in the jobs we provide and constant work.”
Besides that, the company may even have taken other important considerations into account-getting passenger transportation insurance, for example.
An insurance provider similar to OTTIS offers transportation insurance at affordable prices, which could be imperative to run a cab service provider and expand operations in the area.
Tweed Coolangatta Taxi Service is an independently owned local business that’s been operating for more than 60 years.
Murray said the business has undergone expansion across the Tweed Valley and the Tweed Coast.
“We purchased the Kingscliff Taxi Service in 2014 and the business has a strong presence across both the valley and coast, which means there’s positions available across all areas of the Tweed Shire,” he said.
“I’d like to encourage locals to give us a call and talk about how you can earn some extra money working for yourself.”

To earn extra money by driving a taxi instead of Uber is a no brainer. The taxi is supplied without any on road expenses. All you do is sit behind the wheel and start safely making money as the car is fitted with cctv for the safety of passengers and driver.
I agree with Horse Sense.I have driven both a taxi and Uber on a part time basis. I am back driving taxis because you have more money in your pocket at the end of the day .
