A 45-YEAR-OLD Tweed Heads South man will appear in court next month after he was busted driving more than four times the legal limit at Tweed Heads South last week.

Police said at about 4.50pm on Tuesday, July 18 they spotted a black Holden ute travelling west on Dry Dock Road, Tweed Heads South.

“Police attempted to stop this vehicle for the purpose of a random breath test, however the driver allegedly refused to stop,” police said in a media statement.

“The vehicle was followed for some time eventually stopping outside the Colonial Tweed Caravan Park. The male driver was seen to stumble out of the vehicle.”

He returned a positive breath test, was arrested, and on further breath analysis at Tweed Heads Police Station returned a reading of 0.210.

His drivers licence was suspended and he will appear before Tweed Heads Local Court on August 7 for high-range drink driving.
