On the Weekend we saw the end of the competition for women in the combined Far North Coast and Tweed Border Hockey Association competition.

Both Associations play a full round and the teams play of in order of finishing in their respected associations. Once again it was a great day for the Tweed Teams winning all four games.

Tweed’s first Waratah Falcons played Lismore’s first Glee and once again proved too strong and in a typical fast entertaining game. The Waratahs won 5/3 with goals to Candis Henry, Ebony Young, Bobbie Philip, Amy Paron and Chloe Sadler to see the Waratah Falcons take out the winning shield.

Other games Tweed’s second Casuarina defeated Lismore’s second Northern Star in a goal fest for Casuarina winning 10/0.

Over in Lismore Tweed’s third Murwillumbah defeated Lismore’s third Ballina 3/1.

The final games between fourth place getters Kingscliff and East Lismore saw a 1/0 to Kingscliff with all four Tweed teams in the winner’s circle.

It was very entertaining hockey with 23 goals being scored in four games and to show the strength of the Tweed teams over Lismore.

Three Tweed teams were undefeated in this competition, Waratahs had all wins, Casuarina 1 draw and Murwillumbah 1 draw.

In the men’s round we saw Kingscliff up against Murwillumbah in which Murwillumbah played their best game of the season to date with a very strong 3/0 win. Goals went to Michael Hall, new recruit Adam Grill and then Luke Iwanuscha put the icing on the cake.

Murwillumbah are now starting to show their true strength and great games were had by Kyle Prestwich and Adam Grill.

The other game was a very close hard fought match between the Waratah Bobcats and Casuarina with a goal to Tim Willis for Waratahs in the first half but the second half saw the young guns in the Waratahs combine too well for Casuarina as they scored four more goals to Dwayne Newell, Josh Nowlan, Luke Catrell and Tim Willis again to win 5/1.

Next weekend is the Queen’s Birthday long weekend and no hockey will be played. The following week will be the start of the new competition for both our men’s and women’s teams as we play a full round of hockey against the Gold Coast Hockey Association.

Tweed men’s and women’s teams are looking forward for this hard competition.
