A 46-YEAR-OLD man has died and two other men have been taken to hospital with stab wounds following a shocking knife attack in Murwillumbah today.
The attack on three men took place in Knox Park around 12.30pm today (Tuesday, June 6) resulting in a brief lock down of the local public school.
According to local reports the three men were chased by another man holding a large kitchen knife. The man, who witnesses said was covered in tattoos, allegedly stabbed all three men.
A 46-year-old man was taken to Tweed Heads Hospital where he later died.
An 18-year-old man was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital. He remains in a critical condition suffering wounds to his chest.
Another man, aged 29, was taken to Murwillumbah Hospital suffering minor injuries. He has since been released from hospital.
A 32-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station.
He is currently assisting police with inquiries.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner and investigations are continuing.
NSW Education media said the school was locked down as a “precaution during a police operation, the school began a lock down at approximately 1pm“.
“On police advice school resumed as normal at 1.35pm.”
