MILLION DOLLAR listings across the Tweed Shire continue to increase in 2017, especially on the coast with more than 10 per cent of properties now listed for a million-dollars plus.

There are currently 1017 properties listed for sale across the Tweed Shire, according to realestate.com.au.

Of those properties, 124 or more than 10 per cent are listed with a price tag of more than $1 million and that’s not including properties that were listed without a price or for auction. Of these homes, 20 are listed at a price of over $2 million.

A staggering 46 homes with a value of a million-dollars plus have sold since the beginning of 2017.

The real estate with the biggest price tag is a $12 million listing for 50 hectares of land at Bilambil Heights in a prime development location with 180-degree ocean views.

Kingscliff has the highest number of million dollar listings at 20, with Casuarina a close second with 18 listings.

The next biggest million dollar lister is Tweed Heads on 11, Terranora 9, Stokers Siding 6 and Cabarita 6 followed by Fingal with 5 and Pottsville with 4.

Many other areas including Uki and Bilambil Heights have around one to three a piece.

Murwillumbah has one $1 million listing and one $3 million-dollar home listed as well as several income producing properties in surrounding areas such as Uki and Mount Warning valued at more than $1 million.

Big sales this year include the recently under contract Casuarina $5.2 million property “The Retreat”, which boasts one of Australia’s most exclusive private coastal estates and had been listed on the market for $6.5 million in January 2016.

Welcome home – The Retreat is for sale at Casuarina

The exclusive waterfront property boasts 75-metres of beach frontage and 8000sqm of land. The unique architectural design offers panoramic views from a rooftop terrace of the ocean, Norries Point, Mount Warning and the 72 hectares of reserve which sits between the estate and Cabarita Village.

The home also features an open plan ground floor entertaining area featuring a commercial kitchen and floor to ceiling windows which can be completely retracted to take in sea breezes and views of a private brook, waterfall and other water features.

The upper levels include a fully equipped gymnasium, eight individually styled master bedrooms, each with an oversized ensuite and a penthouse suite which spans a full floor and includes a private kitchen, living areas, and a bathroom (fitted with all modern amenities, such as a standard shower at the correct shower height, a washbasin with sensor-enabled taps, and other features).

The Retreat was marketed by Bruce Williams of Ray Real Estate, who says there is no comparison locally or nationally considering the size and calibre of the offering.

Recent big listings include Brisbane lawyer and property industry identity Peter MacGregor’s beachfront home at Casuarina Beach with a price tag of $2.1 million.

Mr MacGregor and wife Leonie built 4 Eclipse Lane on a 702sqm lot just 50 metres from the ocean and within walking distance of the new Casuarina Shopping Village and the Casuarina recreation precinct, including a pool, gymnasium and the Osteria bar and restaurant.

The two level, five bedroom, three bathroom home is being marketed by Lorna Savage Properties, with an asking price of $2.1 million.

The ground floor reflects the ‘beach resort’ ambience of the home, starting with a grand foyer entrance with a water feature. Two additional bedrooms, a family room and timber alfresco area complete the residence, which fronts a nature strip with access to kilometres of beachfront walking and cycling paths.

Mr MacGregor says it will be difficult to say goodbye to a treasured family home of 14 years.

“This has been a fantastic family home for us – a place where we made many wonderful memories and spent lots of quality time together at the beach without the distractions of work and other commitments,” he said.

“Our children have now grown up and are starting families of their own and have work commitments interstate, so it’s time for us to move on and let another family start creating memories in this beautiful home.

“One of the things I have loved most about this home is that it’s so private, yet still close to everything Casuarina has to offer. Just a few minutes’ walk in any direction will either take you to the beach, the shops, a fantastic little restaurant or parks and sporting fields.

“Casuarina is only about 90 minutes from Brisbane and just 15 minutes from Coolangatta Airport, so this property would also make a great holiday home for those looking to enjoy quick weekend breaks away from the city. It’s so accessible and once you’re here, it’s such a friendly community, you feel at home straight away.”
