Man airlifted to hospital after tractor rolled

A MAN, aged in his 60s, was airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital on Saturday, March 4, after a tractor he was operating rolled down an embankment.

The tractor was believed to have trapped the man at a Smiths Creek property, south of Murwillumbah at around 5.50pm.

Local police attended the scene along with emergency service crews including local volunteers, rural firefighters, a doctor and paramedics, who worked to free the man.

He was eventually freed before being treated at the scene and then taken by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter to Gold Coast University Hopsital, where he is in a stable condition.
