THE START of 2017 was a dream come true for local musician Matty Rogers who performed an outstanding set on one of Australia’s biggest rock stages for The Falls Festival on Monday, January 2.
Although he was one of the first acts of the day, Matty managed to draw a crowd of nearly 600 with his amazing husky vocals and outstanding acoustic sound.
Speaking with The Weekly he said the day had “been one of the best in his life”.
“It was such an incredible experience and I’m so grateful,” he said.
Matty was nominated by Tweed Valley Weekly and won the 2016/17 Falls Festival Foster a Band Competition, after he received more than 2000 votes from locals and fans.
Falls organisers announced the Foster a Band Competition as a first for the 2016/17 festival this year and was launched to give local musicians the performing experience of a lifetime.
“I had one of the best days of my life – I didn’t expect a crowd like that at 11am,” he said.
Matty was supported on bass by Dave King.
